uiscrollView passes touches to supwerview while bouncing

Gesture recognizer is added into the top-level view. Here is my code: class MyViewController : UIViewController weak var scrollView: UIScrollView! Basically, if I disable bouncing in a UIScrollView (so derivatives such as UITableView are also affected) it's possible to get the scroll indicator stuck if a user scrolls to the top, and then, with another gesture, tries to continue scrolling using a quick swipe. Structure of my views is as follows: +- View (top-level view) I overlayed a UIView on the right side to handle touches for scrolling quickly through the list of images. I found a few threads on StackOverflow regarding similar issue, but solutions provided there did not resolve my problem.

When user is tapping on the screen, long pressing on the screen or moving finger horizontally, then I'm able to capture touches, but when user is moving finger vertically and activating vertical scrolling at the same time, then I'm not able to capture touches.
